New York City late-20-something trying to figure it all out -sustaining a life in the concrete jungle and juggling a career with co-habitation and more. Obsessed with all things weddings, as long as they remain stylish. From running around the city in countless LBDs, to eventually getting to my own pouffy white dress and beyond, there's inspiration and great finds everywhere!
I voted in the election, and now I’m voting for style. In fashion news today, Stacey Bendet announced her latest Alice & Olivia line extension - evening gowns! These gowns are stunning - great cuts, beautiful silhouettes, and fun material - definitely stand out. If only I had a good reason to grab one (black tie gala anyone?). Here are my favorites from the launch:
Another British favorite and go to for me is Karen Millen - if you don’t know her, you need to. She does beautiful, sculptural pieces that accentuate a woman’s figure beautifully. While she only carries a limited set of pieces from her line in the states, those of you who are able to get to London to check out all of it should consider yourselves lucky. Here are a few favorites (and purchases):
1. Modern color clock check knit dress - I tried this dress on and it’s the perfect combination of sculpted cut and sweater dress. The belting is a great accent, and the colors are really stand out.
2. Graphic check dress - this dress is very reminiscent of early McQueen, I love the design and the fabric - a great choice for the holiday season.
3. Sculptural peplum dress - I bought this in London and wore it out after the proposal to celebrate - clearly a great choice, very wearable but also really stand out due to its construction.
4. Moleskin coat with faux fur - to me, no outfit is complete without a great jacket (at least for those of us who have to deal with winter), so I picked up this jacket while I was in London as well. I love it’s vintage feel - very Jackie O. Unfortunately it’s not in the states yet, but hopefully it will be soon!
While in London, I rediscovered some of my favorite designers - the awesome part is that, since they are native Brits, a lot of their lines are not yet in the states or are just arriving, so I got to enjoy a bit of a preview. The first favorite I’ll share with you is Reiss - also a favorite of Dutchess Kate Middleton. They have some fabulous dresses and jackets for any/all of your fall activities - here are a few that I love (and tried on):
1. Kerensa Pleated Maxi Dress - I love that maxi dresses are becoming a year-round option - they do a great to job of bringing a casual formality to any occasion without having to go full on black tie
2. Agnes Dress - I tried this on in London - it fits stunningly, and is definitely worth checking out :)
3. Effy Jacket - I also tried this on - not only is it super soft, but the silhouette is fantastic
The best news - Reiss right now is having a 50% off sale on some merchandise - not the items above, or else I’d be shopping up a storm - but still some great stuff, so check it out!
Today, work completely blew up - I’m still waiting on a lunch break (and it’s past 7PM)…needless to say, total disaster, and clearly no time to even remotely think about posting. Tomorrow - it’ll be even worse. LAME.
Since I’ll likely be out of pocket until the weekend, here is a little something to tide you over, courtesy of one of my favorite jewelry designers, Alexis Bittar. The events he’s hosting over the next week or so basically sound epic - I’ll likely be stuck at my desk, otherwise I’d be there in a second!
To kick off this weekend’s bridal blog weekend wrap up, I wanted to share a feature that Style Me Pretty shared on Weddington Way - I absolutely love the breakout of apparel and accessories by color palette - great inspiration and a ton of versatility!
I know we all lament the end of summer, but the good news is that we get to capitalize on all of the amazing end of summer sales, which usually feature items that last through the fall and into the spring. Here are a few favorites from scouring today that are great steals to grab before the sun sets on this season.
One of my favorite things to get i my inbox every morning is my Shopstyle sale alert. The content - amazing, the greeting - priceless. If you’re not subscribed - it’s a must-do - simply create an account and shopstyle will send you customized sale alerts for your favorite brands that are broken out by designer - genius!
Trust me, your closet will thank you (your wallet on the other hand, will likely not).
Yes, I know it’s still summer, but fall is fast approaching, and makeup isn’t the only thing you need to get ready [cue drum roll] - you also need some new threads! Some key things to look for are versatility (does to go with pieces I already have so that I can make a lot of outfits), transitional (can I wear it across multiple seasons), day/night appropriate (does it work at work and for drinks) and timelessness (if possible, will it wear well for many seasons to come).
The awesome news is that there are some great, affordable options out there. Today I picked up a few items, thanks to a HUGE sale at The Limited - everything is 40% off! I got a shirt dress, somebelts, and a bag for toting my laptop around - sweet deal!
Oh my lordy, color me obsessed. My friends know that I am over the moon for Rachel Zoe - I love her style and I covet her wardrobe (she has one of the best vintage collections EVER). If you didn’t already know, she’s debuted her new jewelry collection with Neiman Marcus, and today made it official with a shop-able video. So, not only can you see the pieces on a real person, you can also look at how she has styled them - genius (as a marketer, I’m very impressed)!
The collection is uber-glamorous and clearly art deco & vintage inspired, so of course pulling out favorite pieces is really tough, but I’ve done my best:
1 & 2. Love Knot Collar Necklace & Ring - they both look fantastic on! 3. Deco Crystal Cuff - no explanation needed 4. Long Tassel End Necklace - I don’t love it how Neiman Marcus styled it, but the way it’s knotted in the video (screen shot above) is great! 5. Chain-Maille Bracelet in Green Quartz - I like that the bracelet is more flexible than it seems in the photo, which looks great on - take a look at how it’s layered in the video. 6. Chain Tassel Necklace - I love the versatility of this piece - the length allows for layering, which you can see looks awesome in the video, or it can be more of a statement single piece - either way, definitely a keeper!
