It’s Friday!  After a long week, I’m thrilled for a relaxing weekend (and hopefully a final decision on our wedding venue)!  Apparently, I’m not the only one thinking about all things wedding - Rachel Zoe has partnered with Lover.ly to give us a glimpse into some awesome old Hollywood glamour-inspired wedding ideas.

I personally love the B by Brian Atwood T-strap pumps & the BHLDN deco beaded clutch

Enjoy!

And I’m baaaaaack!  Since we’re braving a storm here, I’ve finally got some time to get back into the swing of tumbling - yay!

I know - it’s been a while, and yes, I promise there’s a good (no, great!) reason.  As you know, I went to London with Ben, and we had a spectacular trip, with one big surprise - a proposal!

The long and short of it is that he surprised me on the last day of our trip and booked us at the Four Seasons Park Lane.  We walked into the suite and I was floored - I literally had no idea what was going on.  30 minutes later we had champagne in hand and were talking - well, he was talking, I was processing.  I asked him to sit next to me on the couch and feel my heart - it was pounding out of my chest.  He asked if I was happy with what he had done, concerned that I was upset.  ”Do I like it? It’s perfect,” I replied.  He responded with “Well, there’s one thing that could make it even more perfect,” and pulled out the box.  I, of course, said yes!

I’ve been keeping it somewhat on the down-low - I wanted to make sure my friends heard about it first, before the rest of the world, so it’s been impossible for me to jump back into the swing of anything wedding related on tumblr without spilling the beans.  So, hugely exciting, and lots of planning to start soon, once we’re done with a bit more celebrating of course ;)

It’s Faraway Friday!
After another crazy week, we’ve made it Friday afternoon - an amazing feat if you ask me. The scary part? 6 more days until London and I am beyond ill-prepared (outside of my wellies of course).  So while I focus on planning for the trip, here’s a fun tribute to the Brits in this week’s Faraway Friday feature!
This week’s designer from across the pond is Ritva Levezza, who just won Best British Designer 2012 at this year’s Bridal Buyers Award.  With a history of 35+ years in the bridal business, this lady certainly knows her stuff! I personally love the intricate detail and the vintage inspiration - check out the whole line!

For the last featured DIY of the day, I thought I’d put two tutorials together to help you create a great customized party favor.  First, here’s a great way to achieve the perfect bow, followed by a step-by-step on how to make your own decals for favors.  Paired together = perfection!

Another two great ways to bring the gilded theme to life are through artwork or glassware.

You can consider using a DIY gold accent as a statement piece to help establish an area in your event space (for example, a backdrop for a dessert table), using only poster paper, spray paint, fiberboard and a frame.

I also love the idea of creating glassware within your theme that guests can take home with them as a party favor.  Check out this tutorial from the team over at Martha Stewart on using craft paint to embellish champagne flutes!

Another great way to play with pink is through edibles.  It’s a great accent color on anything from a signature cocktail to a tiered cake to a dessert table to a personal bottle of champagne - it looks good enough to eat (or drink) no matter which way you go!

Pink - a great color for a statement, although easy to overdo, which is why restraint is always key when you’re incorporating it into your event.  One easy way to manage this is through floral design, using the pink to accent larger settings/neutral elements.  So, whether it’s a bright bouquet, a feature on an entry table or petals scattered around a space, you’re good to go!

I saw this photo set and I absolutely loved the pop of pink on both parties involved, so I decided to do a little digging and find some other great examples of how pinks can bring a great bright tone into your big day, no matter what the season!
